Hey there, I have a 120y with an L20B in it and want to know what tachos people have used with there L20B (Series 1 Bluebird) from out of other cars at the wreckers? I would like to find something that can be adapted into the spot where the 120y clock goes. Any ideas?

I would first see if a 120y coupe has one, should be too easy to follow the wiring, your car will probably already have the wiring for it up under the dash, normally 2 black wires with white tracers if my memory serves me correct.

yes, the 120Y coupe has a tacho, if you can find one, grab the dash wiring loom as there's probably a difference, I know the 1200's & the Sunny's are.

Id suggest buying Andy's tacho, the old one should come out of the cluster with a few screws & the new one mount with the same screws. There should be a plug on the loom to suit.Look for a pair of black with white wires connected & a red with blue stripe. The 1200 tacho wires never went into it, & there was only a wire going to the light bulb for night time, so maybe it's the same with the 120Y. I've got all this information from the Gregory's 120Y manual No 111A, 'wiring diagram for Late right hand drive 120Y models'page no 218/219.

Yes, the factory tachometer will work with any four-cylinder that uses points ignition.

Yeah thats the problem, I have electronic ignition and the 120y tachos' dont work. I have tried a couple and the readings are very inaccurate. My datsun Mechanic says the 120y tachos are different to later model tachos. I might have to buy one from Bursons or something but they are so over priced, $130 for a tiny dial. Probably only cost $5 for them to make it.
