G'day Kurt, I'd love to come but I'm competing at Oran park on the 5th. Might come up and watch on the 6th, though.

Cheers,

Ian

hey ian, geez the 5th would go close to being the last event at oran park wouldnt it, the hillclimb is generally better to watch anyway, except the supersprint is 2 cars at a time. hows the 1000 going for you?

Bert, the start line for the Conrod descent is about 100-150 metres down Conrod from the kink at the BLCC club house. It's at the bottom of the dip before the first hump you see on the television. If you look at Goggle maps, just follow conrod straight down till it first bottoms out, that's the start line, & where everybody stops to take a photo of their car on Pole position is the finish line. The finish line is the Start line for the race, 3/4's of the way along the front straight. The start line for the Esses Hillclimb is approximately at the uphill driveway on to the club house grounds & the finish line is the overhead bridge at Nissan Skyline. Are you thinking of making the trip down? I've done this event a few times, mainly the Conrod Descent on the Saturday, & it's always a good weekend, even when the motor backfires through the carbies & sets the aircleaners alight.
Sorry Bert, misread Kurts first message, gave you the Esses start & finish. The Mountain Straight start is about the turn off for the Winery on the eastern side of the track, just below Griffins Bend, & the finish line is approximately around that grating that was giving the Hi-Rollas trouble during their race, to give you a bit of stopping distance to get into the gates at Macphillamy Park.

hey paul and bert, we have changed the mountain straight start and finish points, the start is the top of the hump underneath the sign so u get a fair run up, ive done full laps in the datto and im probly doing 2000rpm under top speed going into griffins bend, and runs through the cutting up to reid park, through sulman, and finishes after the left hander after the grate, with enough time to brake for the entry into mcphillamy gateway. if u have a 0-1600cc impoved production car bert u will be chasing my record of 58.88 seconds 4 the run.
if there is any more you want to know, let me know
are you coming up paul?
cheers kurt

Kurt, I would love to, but I don't think I can afford it. I've only just today found a job that will guarantee 5 days a week employment, so it'll probably take a little while to catch up. I'd probably only do the Saturday if that. I love that flat out blast down Conrod. Bert, I went to Google maps after posting my reply, & found that it's a bloody good way to get to see what the circuit looks like. I wonder if they did the Nurburgring in Germany. Hope you can make the trip down.

Thanks again guys for the info.I discussed this at length with my son today,we took the Sunny to Q.R.for there Wednesday arvo sprint, mainly as another test outing after fitting some coil overs, camber plates and tossing a locked diff in all with mixed results but forward progress.
The end result of our discussion(three hours in the car round trip)was that we feel that we would not get value for our money compared to what is available locally.
If the hillclimb or sprint(single car)was to start on mountain straight and finish half way down conrod it would be a differant story,i know this would potentially be a drama with the residents(and i'm trying not to sound like a smart arse or dick head here)but i reckon this would get a swag of entrys if it was a 2 day meeting for say $180.00 along with local support.
I guess we are lucky(in some ways)up here as we have so many local shires willing to close roads and organise sprint events as they have and continue to wake up to the fact that it rakes in money to the local community.
Only today we got the calender from Q.R.for 2010 sprint events
17 at Q.R. Ipswich
21 at Lakeside
Add these to Morgan Park,Carnell plus all the regional sprint weekends away and it kinda makes a quarter lap of Mt.P seem not such good value, but again i write these words in good faith and i mean no disrespect.

Cheers
Bert

Oooh yeah its on again !! woody i *hope* to make it, but im doing some historic cruize/drive with the old man and his Jag club the weekend before + im dragging my g/f along to it, so i dunno if ill be able to get out again the weekend afta.... my datsun lives like 40mins from where i live now due to living in f-ing Sydney (everything costs too much esp garage space) so it will be a mission if i DO make it :)

any1 who makes it to this event wont be sorry! woody ; fix the datto and chuck the (fully sic) gemmi eheheh just kidding ! glad to hear u have 2 race cars now!! (jealous AS)
