Hey all,
I have a morris minor with an A12 that has been sitting in my garage for about two years now. Anyway i've recently got her going again but have a bit of an issue that i can't solve. I pretty much got this car to learn simple mechanical stuff on, and so far so good, but this has me stumped.
The engine starts and idles fine, 600rmp smooth idle. Timing has been set at 5 degrees, vacuum advance seems to be ok. I've got a new fuel pump, coil plugs and leads in.
My issue is when i put the foot right down it revs up fine to about 4k revvs. At this point the engine starts "bouncing" off the revs, just can't get itself up any further. If i gradually increase revs rather than flooring it it can climb all the way through the rev range fine. Now, i do have the vacuum advance unhooked and plugged because it seems to be making the issue worse rather than better. (with the vaccum hooked up it splutters through acceleration too.) Also the carb has been re-conditioned....but probably not tuned correctly to the engine cause i don't know a whole lot about that. My guess is a secondary jet issue, but its really only a guess and id have no idea of how to remedy that.
I have attached a small sound byte of the issue in case that helps. Thanks in advance.
