Want to know when B110 was available

Howdy,
I'm a writer of the Japanese oldcar publication called the OldTimer. Maybe
many of you might know. Currently, I am doing a reseach about the Datsun
B110 in the U.S. However I have pazzled with the many sources I could find.
First, I got this thick book titled as " STandard Catalog of Imported Cars,
1946-1990 ( Krause Pulications, Inc. ) and on its Datsun/ Nissan section, it
is not showing any B110s which can be took as the B110s were never imported
officially in the U.S.

That's not true, isn't it ? I've seen many B110s in the States and as matter of
fact my friend's daughter is driving one ( but not bought new though. ) I tried
to find out more about this and through the web surf, what I could found so far
is the Hane's B110 Manual on sale which shows the car was available in the '70
thru '73 model year. However it was available through the British old car parts
vendor and so I couldn't make sure it is as same as in the U.S.

Kindly, if anyone could tell me the correct answers, please do and it will be
highly appreciated because currently, I am working on the OldTimer article
featuring the B110 in the U.S. What I'd like to know are as follows.

1. Is B110 sold in the U.S. through the Datsun dealers whch means imported
and sold by the Datsun North America during its model years ?

2. When B110 were available ? From '70 model year to '73 ?

3. Did B110s raced in the SCCA back then ? Did it do good ?

One other thing to ask is if you have a B110 and interested in having it
featured on the Japanese automotive publication, please let me know.
The more I research about the B110s, I have learned that the car is beloved
by many enthusiasts in the States and that's very touchy for the B110/ Sunny
enthusiasts in Japan as well. Therefore, I want to let the other Japanese
Datsun lovers to know you and about your cars.

Anyway, this is my first trial putting the message on this board and hoping
my English made sense.

Sincerely,

Kenn Samurai

Hi Kenn,

Look forward to reading your article about the 110 - how can we find it when it's written? It would be great to also read about the world-wide appreciation for the 1200. Have
a look in Photo's: Kiwi Race Cars for an idea of their popularity in New Zealand. Australia also has plenty of history with them. Let the fans in Japan know they are not
alone!

On cable TV recently there was a series of shows about the history of cars. One of these programs spelled out the import invasion. When they got to the early seventies, they showed
a commercial for the 1200! This, and the Datsun dealer emblem I removed from one of my cars, tells me that they were sold by dealers here in the states. Before anyone asks, no I
didn't get the commercial on tape. I think it was on the History channel though. I'm going to see if I can find it on the web. Everyone, have a day. Tim

I guess I don't have enough patience to find stuff on the web. I went to historychannel.com in an attmept to find that Datsun 1200 commercial but got tired of
searching. Perhaps someone less hotheaded can find it. Give me low tech stuff like a 1200. Those I understand. Tim

Hi Kenn,
The B110 was sold in the US from 1971. There is a book called "Nissan/Datsun - A History of Nissan Motor Corporation in USA 1960-1980" by a guy called John B. Rae. This
might have some usefull info in it for you. It was published by McGraw-Hill from New York and the book code is ISBN 0-07-051112-8.

I have scanned a USA brochure for the B110 and put it on my website. You can see it at http://www.ratdat.com/b110brgal/

I'm sure there are several people in this club from the US who would like to put their 1200 in Old Timer!

The B110 has a huge following still. There are people here from all over the world!

Good luck with your research,

Hy. I would like to ask a question for the experts . I found at the Datsun web. that in what I think was South Africa(judging for the flag which has a yellow Y letter horizontally) a Datsun
140Z and a Datsun 160Z where sold . These cars are basically a 120Y, or B210, both of which are the same car, with the adition of a L series engine. How can I get any information about it
and is there any other countries that got it. That woul mean that Datsun Nissan somewhere in the world has parts for this car, needless to say, excelent for any datsun enthusiast and owners of
B210,one of my cars happens to be a B210,the brother of the 1200,sharing the same hearth(engine).Anyone? ratdat? Datsun experts? I am a Datsun fanatic but I do not have the knowledge about
all this data.

In South Africa they sold L series powered B210's as a 140Z and 160Z. These were also sold in Japan and I think are actually a B211 rather than a B210. I have a Japanese brochure for this
model. The L16 powered car was sold as in different trim levels and specs and was designated GX-L, GX, GL-L and GL depending on spec. The L series cars have a slightly longer hood that is
more pointed in the center and a lot of other differences with bumper, grille and turn signals. The rear lights are different to ...the 1600GX-L coupe has six round tail lights! Email me if
you want a pic of one ...I have scanned it from the brochure.
I don't think any other markets other than S.A and Japan got these cars.
