I've made arrangements with a local (RSA) IRC server until I get a new server up and running.
In a web browser, open the following link:
http://duke.za.net/cgi-bin/cgiirc/irc.cgiCGI is also very good if you are behind a firewall (Work).
I created a few screen shots for those that are not familiar with IRC.
1. Open the
http://duke.za.net/cgi-bin/cgiirc/irc.cgi link in a browser
2. Type in your forum name next to nick
3. Select the irc.jawug.za.net server
4. On the next screen type the following and hit enter: /join #datto (Some users are experiencing problems with the # before datto, remove it if it is problematic)
5. Start Chatting
You can also used IRC application like mIRC, Xchat etc. and jMIRC on cellphones if your phone supports java.
Do not worry, IRC is not bandwidth intensive, running 6 channels 24-7 for a month with more or less 300 users chatting will use in the region of 30mb of data.
Please let me know of any bugs as this is a temp solution, if it is supported I'll purchase a new server and we can have our own place to chat.
