Is there such a thing as a short twin carb manifold for the A14 that will mount twin 40mm carbs??? I have a GX twin carb manifold but once the carbs are mounted I only have 40mm clearance between the carbie faces (No trumpets) and the fire wall. This is in my E10 Cherry.

There is a short"er" manifolds for single DCOE but I think you guys are corrrect on the GX manifold nedding to be custom. Will this be a street car??? If not several FWD race cars back in the day had the velocity stacks extending through the firewall into the passenger compartment, using the proper gauge sheet metal to form an airbox and then pull air in though the vent......or not!!!

Rallytwit: she is to be a racer and that is one one of modifing it I have thought of that or a big bonnet sccop with a large panel filter feeding down to the Carbs. I also may just make a thin box with a 2-3 inch pipe on the end and cold feed from a pod filter mounted down the front of the car.

Why not cut an inch or so out of the middle of a standard manifold and weld it back together?

You could also angle the manifold up by machining the mounting face. The firewall technique is mention in the how to race your datsun book, it says you could draw cool air from the waterbox section of the firewall where it has the added benifit of being a high pressure zone on the car away from dust.
