Should be only two wires to the switch on the side of the gearbox, one must have broken off.
If you get under the car you should be able to see where it has come off the switch.

The sensor is really just a switch (on or off), it has two wires connected to it.
If one is broken the reverse lights will not work, If you locate the wires where they attatch to the switch you should see where the broken wire is meant to go.
You might need a new switch but there are ways around that.

there should be 2 wires that attach to a switch on the gearbox. these 2 wires always end up comin off, you can take the switch out and re solder them back on or just get a new one. But they are very fragile and dont take much to come off, all i did was resolder mine and taped and heat shrinked it to give it a bit more life

I removed mine and made a switch on the dash.

Sorry, but that's illegal in Australia. The reversing light must come on automatically when reverse is selected, & extinguish automatically when not in reverse gear.

Your setup is a cause for rejection of an inspection slip when re-registration time rolls around.

EDIT
I just realised that you are in Victoria, one of the states without an annual inspection scheme, which allows thousands of unroadworthy vehicles to roam the streets without any system of detection.

Canberra also doesn't have the annual checks. They justify it by doing 'random' inspections. I must be living in the wrong area as I have only seen 3 random inspections in the 5 years of living here.

Hi Guys

Thanks for valuable reply on this, i made it by my self, it is quite easy,as i understand it gets 12V from ignition to one wire , the other always returns 12 v or no voltage on the gear position that will lead the reverse bulb to blow or not

Thanks
regards
sumith
