Hi all i need some photos of damaged 'A' pillars to make a case for my engineer so i can run a full 'rollcage' in my ute, if i can convince him that a 1200 chassis needs a 'chassis stiffner' he will concider signing off on it . This may set a precidence for this approach to be available to all 1200 owners , so please help me gather enough info to make this happen , thanks all

does your plan for a 'full rollcage' involve any cross bars running behind the seats?
id like rollover protection in my ute, but i wouldnt fit if i had to move the seat forward at all..

was just curious on how you plan to do it?
sorry i cant help with any picutres though

i havent got that far yet but yes i would like to have cross braces as they are part of why the cage is there , the back wall of the utes under the window is angled foward at the bottom so if space is a problem i was going to penitrate through that panell with the main hoop ,it would be almost vertical and parralell with the glass,so it would be half in half out of the cab .

space is always a problem in 1200 utes.. but that method could work!

just run the main loop on the back of the cabin wall so it's not inside at all, it'll recess nicely into the indenting of the cabin wall.

that would be ok if it was just a half cage , but then how do i attach the front legs and roof bars , the whole point of this is to have a full "chassis strengthener" welded into the chassis as inconspicuious as possible ,the 'a' pillar bars are the key to a stiff chassis and to tie in the front strut towers to the main body.

just hole saw into the cabin wall the size of your roof bars and have them goin through then weld around the bar where it passes through the cabin wall. should seal it and will also brace the cabin wall/roof etc. into the cage making the chassis stiffer again. just an idea, might not work in practice but worth looking into i guess

not a bad idea i will have to see how neat that can be achieved , the engineer has stressed that the tubes must be 100% welded all around and tucked up as far as possible into the roof cavity so they can be trimed over and hidden, as there is a ADR rule on head clearance , it's tight but looks like it can be done.
