I am also interested. There is a couple of wires going from my + side of the battery to the different electrical equipment. I am curious what people did with these wires. Did you guys just run a thick wire from the battery to the front and connected it to the starter like normal and then all the thinner wires connected to the starter at the + side as well?

I just moved my battery to the trunk. #2 gauge wire works fine. I mounted a positive stud terminal to the front shock tower under the hood. Just connect everything there just like its the battery. I built a metal tray the size of my battery. I then set the tray inside a battery box and drilled holes through the tray, the box and the frame. Strapped the battery to the tray and set it in the box and then bolted it down. Made the battery connections and tested the ground by running an ohm meter from the front of the car to the back. Put the lid on the box and strapped the lid on. Done. Works great.

grab a dry cell battery and upgrade to that at the same time

furst time i did it i connected everything back to the starter motor terminal, but that becomes a pain down there, and the terminal start to twist up when your doing the nut up tight enough. ended up breaking the terminal on my starter at one stage

when we did the electrics a while back in the current rally car we mounted a fuse box up where the original battery sits roughly, then you can run a single fat wire from the starter to the new fuse box and run everything from that, properley connected, accesible and properly fused too!

By 'dry cell' do you mean a gel cell (battery that can be turned upside down wihout leaking)?

That's a good idea about a fuse/junction box. You could even put a master disconnect switch right there under the bonnet.

i did the same as 1200rc, used a normal lead acid battery in the sedan, but got a better sized dry cell for the wagon. and run everything off a main fuse/relay box where the battery used to be

"Dry cell" is just a generic term. For automotive batteries, a gel cell lead-acid battery is about 2x the cost of a regular flooded lead-acid battery. I'm not sure if there is any advantage unless you want to mount the battery on its side. AGM batteries are another type and can be charged and discharged faster (for electric car usage).

Optima and Oddyssey are two famous brands.

You can mount the battery in a battery box, which is sealed and has a vent hose that you can run outside the car.
