changing mph to kph any idea's?

g'day, i have the old school mph dash and also have 1 in kph, the kph in out of a later model ute, and the wiring behind it adds up but nothing lights up, i have herd that you need to make some small changes to the wiring behind the das but cant find anything on it? duz anyone know how this should be done? cheers.
