Holy sh*t are Dellow kits really that much! That would have to include the box as well though wouldn't it?

Yeah buddy. Not cheap and that's just the conversion kit only.

Not to mention any A series box under $1400 has likely done a squillion k's and would need to be rebuilt(if you can get the bits)for nearly the same again.
I'd go the celica or L series box with engineered A series bell housing grafted on the front.
There is no such thing as cheap Datto stuff anymore

I know you want a five speed but have you considered the 60 series 4spd? Its a very nice box with similar ratios to the 5spd.

I hardly use the 5th gear.....makes me wonder sometimes.

It's mostly because of the motor though, doesn't like any gear at low rpm. Fifth is only used when I'm going at higher speeds or when I'm going downhill.

Sorry for the irrelevance but was saying it in support of levey's comment. So far the best gearbox I've used in a Datsun was the 3spd column shift behind the A10, talk about suited to the motor.

If you are after a 5-speed put your name down as a keen & interested recipient of Mal's (weekend1000) 5-spd breeding program
