Picked this up about two weeks ago. Came to the realisation that my other 1200 ute needs too much bodywork for me to finish, and this cropped up on ebay so i snatched it. The bodywork isn't the greatest, and has some damage to the tailgate, but it's a much better starting point than my other ute.

In the last week i've stripped the engine bay, rubbed right back, sealed and painted. The car colour is Holden VZ white (heron). Interior is halfway complete, engine goes to Dalton Automotive tomoz to get a freshen up, so after 2 years of nothing it's finally all systems go!

Congrats on your new ute. Is it a 1979?

Ah it's an '84 apparently. Although it's engine bay is very different to my '85, so unsure. The mods it has atm are -

- locked diff
-reset leafs and 1" blocks (leafs sit flat haha)
-autotechnica seats
-original chrome
-shaved more than i thought anyone would bother with haha

that's about it. Gonna throw my rally spec A12 in, just need a decent 4sp setup. Can't wait!

Nah bought it from a lad in Mildura, phew these guys had some amazing Datsuns! I was blown away, but wasn't allowed to check 'em out. And yeah not allowed to have locked diffs for roadworthy cert, I know the fella that does my roadys well after taking about 4 cars to him in the last few months haha, but I don't think he'll let it slide. Engines getting pulled apart and everything measured tomorrow, find out what's inside. Just need to suss out a gearbox for it!

So there's a few bits and pieces i'm chasing. Has anyone got Aidaniels number? He has some hubcaps for sale on ozdat i'm mega keen on.

Also wondering who's bought the carpet off ebay for $130 and if it's any good?

One more for now, does anyone know of any starter motors about? Or ones compatible with the old a12?
