Hi, i guess you guys are sick of these threads but ive done a bit of searching but cant decide which way i should go for a strut/brake upgrade.

Ive got a stock 85 1200 ute and wanna have it pretty low and run 7-8" wide 14-15" wheels.
I like the idea of adjustable coilover kits and wanna run a camber top also.

Would be cool to have some silvia/R32 style brakes on them.

I just dont know what to start with, ive read that 280zx struts are good but i dont wanna run spacers or get custom wheels built to allow for the decreased track width.

Ive read the Tech wiki section a few times but just cant decide which way i should go.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Daniel

Have a read of this

should give you a little bit of background on the options available and mods needed and such

if you are running stock struts, and you are swapping to larger struts. you wont have the need to run spacer to get wider track width. you get a 30mm increase with most larger struts
so you would only need to run spacers if the wheels you have are the wrong offset and hit the struts. assuming you dont mind if the wheels hang outside the guards. as thats what most people have an issue with, the wider front track

What motor are you running?
If you have an A series, all you need is 1200 disc brake struts, with the S13 conversion. Gives you all the brakes you'l ever need for the street. (and maybe the track too if you fit good pads) Plus they pretty much bolt it. And you can stick with your standard master cylinder.

Sweet, will be running a mild A15.

Can the R32 calipers be mounted to the 1200/120Y struts? Not essential but would like it for the wank factor.

Cheers.

if using the bracket for the s13 brakes then you should be able to run skyline disc and caliper, providing they dont hit anything else. as the s13 brakes use the same mounting as skyline stuff

will need some wheels that space the spokes away from the disc a bit, ie not just flat from the mounting surface across to the outside of the rim. as the skyline calipers stick out past the disc a fair bit

Awesome, cheers for the help.

What master cyl should i run with the silvia brakes?

And can i still run an adjustable coilover kit with the 120Y/1200 struts + camber top thing also.

Cheers

if you run standard S13 brakes, you can run your stock 1200 MC. you just need to remove the front residual pressure valve.

never ran camber tops with 1200/120y struts, did with stanzas and 200b, and currently with 240z shocks- cant see why not. Andos made some for 1200's too but dont think he does anymore.

There is a set of cusco ones on the bay at the moment, rekcon they would be interchangeable on a 1200?

Cheers

if thy are s13, they fit easily enough. i had to use a round file to take the dags off my strut top holes to get the studs it. plus you have to run them 180 deg around so you dodnt get as much neg camber (this would be pos camber settings for a s13)
