I found a pic of clock wires, I assume the tach wires look similar - has anyone used the sockets from the main dash pod lights(the 2 single spade green wires to the top of pod) & made them work for the tach lights?

Any reason I cant do that?

I put a tach in my old coupe a long time ago when I barely knew the difference between a phillips and a flat screwdriver.

Thirty years later and the details are all fuzzy. I just remember it being quite easy with everything (connections) easy to locate.

I found this photo on Techwiki (http://datsun1200.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=5043)and I beleive it shows where to connect the tach lights to the speedo.

Look to the left of #1. Follow the trace on the circuit board from the bottom light socket. This looks like the terminal you will want to connect your tach lighs to. You can check this with a voltage tester to be sure.

Sorry, I mis-read the question. Please ignore.
