Have you gone to any other places to get quotes to compare? That's the first step I would take if I wanted to know if the place you got the quote from was unreasonably high.

If it is one of the top fab places they will probably be charging more than a guy who does it on the side.

There is a fair bit of labour in doing what you want. From what I've read on other sites to get a vehicle tubbed is usually around $10k from a shop drive in, drive out.

All you can do is what Lachie suggested and get more quotes. Just ensuring your not using backyardbilly to do such a task.

My 1200 coupe dragcar chassis setup is far more extensive and cost around that mark including convos and MT slicks.

Sometimes you can get better prices sending your car interstate. John Traverna Jnr is a Legend in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. Reasonably priced and does brilliant work.

BTW. if going for a stock look is your thing, maybe tubs isn't the way to go? Surely it would be cheaper to use a off the shelf chassis kit tailered to suit your needs.

first piece of frendly advice , get a engineer onboard NOW! , if you move the rails in you will have trouble registering it , it all comes down to if the engineer will pass it , and dont say "what engineer" when you get pulled over by a "know it all" RTA inspector or police officer they will red card you in a heartbeat . Then that 15K will sting even more.
