Hey guys my dad and i put some cusco adjustable strut tops on my coupe struts but the shock keeps on turning. We dont had and spring compressors so we just tied the spring down with rope wrapped a part of the shock and vice clamped it and tightened the nut as much as we could. So the nut that comes with them is hollow and you can see that its only half way up through the nut.

Any ideas and help would be most appreciated ;)

Cheers Nick

Usually the strut top nut turns with the shock as there is no thrust bearing to take the turning loads.

Are you using coil overs as well or just normal springs and spring hats? I put some greased copper washers in my normal strut set up- helped reduce it but I had to tighten
Nuts every so often. Or you could lock tight the crapp out of them. May still work loose. Really need thrust bearings though

looks to me like the thrust ID is the same as the shock OD and is feeding right through???

You may be able to use a strong washer under the bearing as a quick fix? Otherwise you will need a larger diameter shock machined to fit the thrust washer or a smaller id strut top.

as for tightening I use a rattle gun on it's lowest setting with nylocs.

No you need conical hi strength washers under the pillow ball but above the spring hat. Does the nut tread on correctly as they are supposed to sit through the pillow ball bearing

My shanked nuts slide down into the bearings- they need to

The Shocks dont have much of a step in it. What's the inside diameter of pillow ball bearing? The shock needs to fit snugly into the pillow ball bearing. My strut tops needed some sleeves machined up to make the shock fit nicely in the bearing.
