Hi Guys

Yesterday i removed front tie rod sets and shock absorbers and steering box, what type of service can be done to make these parts work smooth, Specially can i service my Steering box ? I see a plastic nut(red Arrowed) on the steering box for what it is about ? and any body has an idea how much does it costs to put these rubber parts(blue Arrowed) to the new tie rod set ?

thanks
regards
sumith

These are the Ball Joints. You can replace the rubber dust cover, but I would simply grease them on schedule every 12 months. When they finally wear out, the replacement ball joints will come with new dust covers.

To determine if they are good, rotate them in every direction. They should be firmly attached, not loose, and move smoothly with little effort and no binding.

The boots are expensive here, about half the price of new joints. The same applies to the inner and outer tie-rod ends.

For adjustment of the steering gear, see Steering Gearbox Adjustment. I think the plastic nut is for filling the gear oil.
