Bleeding Master Cylinder while in Car??

I've had a search around the wiki and looked on youtube but still a bit puzzled.

Can someone give me some tips on what the best way to do this is? Or is it better to bench bleed?

What i cant work out is i run the clear hose from the bleed nipples on the master cylinder back into the master cylinder reservoirs; what do i have to do with the brake line plugs (where the brake lines connect to the master cylinder)?

Leave the brake lines in with all the (4) bleed nipples closed?; open the (4) bleed nipples?, take the brake lines out and plug those holes in the master cylinder with something?

Another method?

Thanks for the help!

connect lines first

But you should bench bleed first anyway

same question with bench bleeding? do you just have to plug the brake line inputs with something? what do you use? i couldnt get a good enough seal when i tried to bench bleed it and brake fluid kept leaking out

Brake line outputs? When you buy a new master cylinder, it comes with plastic fittings to screw into the brake line ouputs and attach the clear tube. You do not use the bleeders for bench bleeding.

OR, if it is already installed in the car, attach the brake line outputs. If necessary, bleed the master via the bleeders. There are only two bleeders on the Master Cylinder (some have no bleeders, in which case crack the lines and use the old-fashioned two-person method).

When the system is dry, it needs Master Cylinder bled AND wheel cylinders bled. Do BOTH.

When bleeding an installed Master, have the rest of the brake system installed and tightened, closed up.

You can use plain hose. It doesn't need to be clear. Just jam it in the outlets and loop back up to the reservior. When the bubbles stop, it is done.
