so many 1200s, mainly ute's are advertised at what seam like really high prices

do they ever sell?

what is the highest money people on this forum have sold a 1200 for?

for me i think $3000 odd for a ute in primer

have coupes and sedans sold for over $5k without having engineered conversions?

I think it depends mainly on condition of vehicle.also rarity...coupes esp are becoming hard to find in excellent condition....or maybe im looking in the wrong places.

Its just a matter of time before some datsun models become very hard to get thus price up.
id happily pay 5k+ for dead stock ute/coupes in very good, original condition.better yet one owners.

I wouldn't pay 5k for a ute after owning one. Great little utes but interior is cramped.

Wagon yeah! 2dr sedan yeah- imacculate 4dr maybe coupe nup.

Only if matching numbers but 1 owner or 5 who cares if good nick

My ute had 2 owners (one for 30 years) and I didnt bother haggling over the $3K ask. Between shaking on the deal and collecting the ute (about 5 days) the owner had 2 offers for more than the asking price.

Luckily for me, he stood by the deal he shook on.

The thing about these car, I have discovered, is I dont see the prices for them ever going down. If you are looking for a car to restore or modify then there really isnt anything that compares to a classic datsun for price and availability of parts and information.

heres a good idea. in the past 3 years ive had 3 1200 utes, in 2008 i had a white one with a12, superlites with rust in the body where it connects to the leaf springs. sold for $5000 with 1 month rego, 2009 had a blue 1200 ute with a14, resprayed blue, small amount of rust, stockies and a couple months rego sold for 7 grand. 2010 i had a blue 1200 ute a15, weber, white simmons b45s small rust 1 month rego sold for $8500 so if u ask me they are going up in price. just depends on what people are willing to pay i guess.

I sold my second 1200 ute 1971 model as a rolling shell honey comb rust in floor pan (easy fix),original paint, panels, tray immaculate as a rolling shell for $4500.00

But it was exactly what the bloke wanted as he is now doing a CA18DE conversion so i guess its what people want and how bad they want it.

When I bought my Ute it was advertised for $7k and I bought it for $3700, and probably could have got it for less. Only had standard A12, but came with Recaro's and a Datsport front end.

Well if that's the way prices are goin why has no one snapped up mine? 1200 sedan resprayed xr5 orange pearl custom black interior with genuine sparco front seats. Sr20de 5 speed r31 diff stanza struts coilovers. And it's engineered and registered til november. Im asking $12k. pretty sure that's reasonable considering what's done and the prices of others without these mods.

I'd expect 8-10k for that - people advertise crazy prices but unlikely to get. Last examPle shows that. Standard paint and stuff worth more to a collector than mods.

Id see mine around 6-7k max, won't mention other members cars with out their ok but there's a well sorted a12 I know I'd rank worth more than mine. A other ute more again!

My experience- a car values for insurance in a previous job.
Market may pay a certain price to the right buyer but what they really are worth--- another thing
