Small Turbo on A12

Hey guys,
I was reading this thread:
http://datsun1200.com/modules/newbb/v ... hp?topic_id=52795&forum=9

It has got me seriously thinking of tracking down a small turbo and putting it on to my A12.

Questions:
My ute is totally standard with 4sp manual box diff etc. Motor runs perfectly. If I didnt get stupid with the boost and aimed for say 100-130hp at the wheels would the standard running gear be up to this task?

Not looking to build a race car or anything but a little more grunt on the street for minor $$ appeals to me...

Thanks in advance

i plan on turbocharging my a12 and am at least upgrading to a 60a and the diff, can't speak from experience but from what i've researched i dont think standard drivetrain is up to it at least the gearbox anyway

I had a supercharged a12 and a turbo a14 and ran a 60a 4speed and ute dif no problems just depends on how its driven, if u gonna give it #OOPS#, lock the diff so that don brake and buy a few boxes spare

I agree totally it is how you drive it. I had a a12 with a T2 Garret off a e15et Pulsar and had a 56a and h145 diff and had no problems for the 3 months i drove it. But i made sure not to drop the clutch and flat shift to much (It had standard 12X4in wheels how ever).

Yes, standard 4" wheels with 155-wide tires will let the tires slip instead of breaking the differental.

Wide tires let the car hook up and so all the power goes through the differential gears. Likewise, locking the differential is a good way to ensure the diff is stressed.
