A rare find to have one complete.
Pretty sure this one is off the A14T with twin hitachi's.
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com.au/vie ... av=SEARCH&nid=38691312724

He also has the base of what looks to be the GX air intake in his other auctions.
Is this anyone from here?

That is a nice find. The air cleaner has the normal SSS/GX/A12T 2-bolt pattern instead of the triple-bolt pattern of the A14T.

That's interesting as I have one lying around that came with a A14 Japanese import engine from a few years back. Had the twin hitachi's on it and I always thought it was a A14T. (Engine long gone now). I'll have to check my air cleaner and see if it's a 2 or 3 bolt.

CRIKEY! It ended up fetching AUD$247.50!!!

You're sitting on a goldmine Datute, if that's anything to go by!

Out of interest, does anyone know the differences between an A-series twin Hitachi factory air cleaner assy and the L-series one, if any? From what I know, both A's & L's were based on the HS4 SU carb. Is that right?

Yes, the more inaccurate the advert, the more money gained.

The main difference is the air filter size:
* L-series: 323mm x 151mm x 60mm
* A-series: 300cm x 151cm x 54mm

A-series

It appears so. The main difference between the HS and prior H/HD is the jet assembly. The Hitachi HJE38 looks closest to the S.U. HS-series, and the HS4 is 1.5 inch bore (38mm).

Note that L-series sixes used the Hitachi 46 mm carbs.

HS4: 1.5 inch (38mm)
HS6: 1.75 inch (44 mm)

Farrk!
Back in the day, one of the big mods on the old Holdens was triple strombergs or if you were flush, triple SU's. I wonder if the O.B.'s (original bogans) knew that the carbs from a Zed (aka "Jap Crap" in O.B. lingo) would've given their stroked 202 red more oomph?!

Back to the L & A differences, it's safe to assume that the overall size was different (given the bigger air filter for the L), but what about the mounting points? Would I be right in thinking that the distance between the carbs would be greater? I ask because I really want a factory(esque) air cleaner assy for my SU's, but bowed out of that auction cos I'll bee buggered if I'm paying anywhere near the amount the ones on ebay went for... Especially when an L assy pops up for around $50!

The L series carbs are a bit further appart, and the air cleaner housing is bigger and has a different air path...
