Nissan 1400 head lights

Hi All
Please help. Both my head light dims are dead. I checked the lamps and they are fine. Also tried another swicth and installed relays, still no dims!!!

I suspect you mean the dimmer on the steering column stalk

there no real way of knowing what's wrong without going over it with a multimeter and checking that you have power at the right places at the right times.

I would suggest that you start at the stalk and work forwards to the lights if you have power or back to the battery if you don't

Yes, the best way to test them is to use a Test Light or Multimeter/Voltmeter. Otherwise you end up replacing stuff that's not the cause.

Tips:

* Make sure the switch is on the 3rd position (pulled all the way out) as some switches won't do brights and dims on the 2nd position.

* If the brights light up, that indicates the Fuse is good (same fuse is used by brights and dims).

Here is the headlight cicuit. It's fairly simple, so check out the outputs with test light or voltmeter
