Hey, I'm getting ready to put on a pair of Dellorto DHLA 40 mm carbs on my A-15 tomorrow and I got a quick (but important) question about the carbs. There are some really small tubes coming out of each barrel of each carburetor, 4 total right behind and to the side of the air/fuel mixture screws, they're slightly smaller than the vaccuum advance nozzle. Does anyone know what these are for and what they are supposed to be hooked up to????
I spent all day today getting it ready for the swap, special thanks to Dimlight up in Dallas/Ft Worth, I couldn't do it without a manifold, thanks! I had to make my own accelerator cable bracket (what else is new with these swaps?) and do a few tricks to make it all work, but it should go no problem. I just had this one last question as this is my first experience with these kinds of carbs. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!! Oh, and I'll be taking it to the 1/4 mile track on Saturday to see how much better these run than the SU's, I'll keep everyone posted!

im looking in a book i got about twin webers and dellotos and it appears to be a "bypass screw" according to an exploded diagram of carby, some pics of dellortos have a screw in this hole and others dont, ill keep reading and see if i can work out why and what it does. o.k.

shit now im looking at the diagrams again and think you might be talking about another hole which is for a "pressue tap screw", anyway looking through the book there seems to be no other mention of the "bypass screw". can you give a better description of this things location please and ill try and help from there.

They look almost like float bowl vents or something, they're just like small nozzles that stick up out the top of the carb. I don't know what they're for, but she runs great without them hooked up to anything! I just got them on the car and it runs AWESOME compared to the SU's. The Dellorto's idle and rev beautifully! It's definitely got more power all the way through the entire rpm range. I don't know why people think the SU's are better for low end torque/streetability the Dellorto's are WAY better just from a seat of the pants view. Now I don't know what to expect for gas mileage, but it can't be too bad, we'll see. Thanks for looking up in the books for me, I'll let you know how it runs at the strip. I can already tell I'm going to have a way better time. See ya later!!

They're 40mm Dellorto's. I'm sure they need a lot of fine tuning to get the most power, but I am very impressed with the way they run, and I just love the induction noise they make compared to the little SU's. I haven't gotten to race anyone yet though (bummer). You'll definitely enjoy the Webers, although now I need the GX head because my mega ported A14 head isn't quite big enough. Talk to ya later!
