first post on this forum so take it easy on me.
i bought the car 2 years ago approx it was pretty well all ready set up.
its an a14 with a t3 turbo running a blow through straight lpg set up running 9 psi making (91kw atrw)
ive always had little problems here and there with idling issues but its never really cost me a cent.
im currently chasing more power though. i figure the easiest way is to wind the boost right up, but before i do this im going to build a motor that will handle the power.
i was wondering if anyone had any experience running high boost in these motors (25+psi)?
this is it when i bought it, not much has changed apart from a few little bits to neaten up the engine bay.

Check out Sikyne's turbo a series thread. He's done boost like you're talking on a stock bottom end with e85 so provided you prevent detonation and your turbo + piping etc. can cope you should be able to wind it up.

From memory, LPG tends to knock more when it's rich, opposite to petrol. Stick a knock sensor on it so you can monitor knock and start boosting. Better would be to boost it up on the dyno, there's a dyno day coming up soon, might even be a spare place left on the dyno that day.

You best book in with Simon for a bit more time so he can tweak it properly, I remember seen this in the past thread of previous owner and surprised he didnt go higher with the boost as it surely has more available.
You probably should source another A14 block to keep withing the rules of engineering so just get and A15 crank, rods, sump and E series pistons made for it A14Force has some good turbo slugs with HPC coating available http://datsun1200.com/userinfo.php?uid=2430 for PM and heres a link to them http://datsun1200.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=20418
That way you have the extra 100cc to help with earlier boost.

I remember seeing this for sale a while ago looks like a good thing. Would definatly go to Simon for tune/a series advice if you need to know anything on how to set up the gas research carbs let me know. I ran one on my car for 5 years with good results but decided to go back to petrol (e85) for ease of tuning and reliability.

the motor that is in it is in a very bad state, (suspected big end) i was driving on satruday on a hard takeoff it revved out to 7500rpm followed by a big bang and allot of grinding noises managed to limp it home but havent really investigated anything further seeing as ive bought a new motor. i've been doing allot of reading about the a series motors.
still trying to get my head around it.
the new motor has been rebuilt with ca18 dish top pistion's and custom turbo grind cam. the bottom end is stock and standard gaskets.
i have minimal experience with high boost so my question is.
is it worth rebuilding the bottom end with ca18forged rods or is that more nescasary for high rpm applications?
seeing as it already has new pistons are the power gains worth boring it over sized and new pistons?
i apologise if i dont make allot of sense, im fairly new to building engines.

ca18 is 83mm so must be some other pistons
Stock A15 rods are good when prepped but you
can use stock prepped ca18de rods but H beams
from spool are also very cheap negating any
work on stock rods as it will end up almost
the same and H beams are better.
What is the new bottom end a14 or a15?

on further investigation the block has been bored out to 83mm.as for the bottom end im pretty sure its standard a14 i think ill do rods just for piece of mind, ill talk to my engine builder next week to see what his thoughts are.
this is the motor i have bought, not sure if any of you saw it listed on ebay or not.

my experince with the gas reasearch carby has been terrible.
under 1600rpm i loose vaccume and then the motor will stall. ive replaced all of the vaccume lines, the converter was spotless.
the carby is clean and i cant think of what else to try???
at the moment it is irelevant because the motor is cactus.
