Has anyone else ever upgraded to an S15 alternator before from the standard external reg Datsun one? I've just sorted the wiring and went to swap the pulleys to find the S15 shaft is 17mm in diameter and the alternator I took off is 15mm.

If anyone else has done it what pulley did you use? I could drill out the stock one but then there's no turning back if I do something wrong.

Thanks for any feedback before I start drilling.....

[Side point/ tip: If you're thinking of rewiring for EFI etc and need a pile of new fuses/ relays the commodore (VR ish) fuse/ relay rack is pretty good. It's modular so you can customise it easy and it just needs two tabs to clip onto.]

In case anyone else wants to try this I found a neat solution, a gokart wheel spacer;

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/OTK-10mm-W ... ageName=ADME:L:OU:AU:3160

fits great on the S15 shaft to space out the pulley from the shoulder on the alternator and either drill out your pulley or do as I did and get a second hand ford XF falcon alternator and use the pulleys off of that.

Now I've got about 80A of current when needed. Sweet!

Looks like I need a longer belt though...
