G'Day All,
Another Simple Question for you all. My Hand brake or Park Brake or what ever you like to call it , it hasent a button on the release shaft, just the small metal shaft sticking out the end about a 1cm.

I have a 1970 1200 Sedan in the shed Im pulling apart for spare's and it has a Button !!

My simple question is how do I get the button off the wreaks hand brake shaft without breaking it ????

Is it a matter of just pulling it off or twisting it off, or would it be easyer to just replace the whole handle etc.

Its a small thing again but I dont like the idea of the metal shaft sticking out, plus it looks like crap.

Any Help would be great , thanks guy's.
Regards
Andrew (amshaw)

why not just change the whole handle assembly? as I recall the button is molded to the rod and can't be removed without breaking it. it shouldn't take more than 1/2 hour to swap them.

Hi All,
I just did the change. I took the Button off the wreak in the shed . All I did was took the plastic grip off the metal handle, it just slid off. Then all I did was to screw the button off !! It has a threaded shaft.

But the relese shaft on my ute is competly diffarant, it has two tab things on it. All I did was got a pair of plyers and held the shaft and just taped it on with a small hammer, and slid the plastic grip back on , fixed !!! and I didnt even swear, for a change. To Easy !!!

Thanks for the help anyway
