Stanza struts into 1200 coupe

How easy is it to install stanza struts into a coupe and what do I need to modify? Do I then need shorter springs to lower the front suspension? And last of all, is it worth
installing them - will I get better handeling?

Any info would be a great help, thanks,

Hi Andrew,

It is quite easy to install Stanza struts. You also need the castor rods, ball joints, lower control arm (the arm that connects to the engine crossmember) and swaybar connection.

When i did mine, I cut two coils off the springs so the strut was the right height. You could buy shorter springs if you want though. The castor rods must be shortened as they are
longer than the 1200 ones. I just cut them and welded them back together at the right length. Otherwise you can machine some more thread on the end.

Use the stanza brake lines that come with the strut as they will connect with the 1200 brake lines.
The difference in handling is pretty amazing- it feels much more stable around corners probably because the lower control arm is longer, and gives more negative camber. I can accelerate
around corners now. The steering is also more sensitive. Really worth doing!
