Mazda heads or any frankenstein moves is what separates the common sheep from the unique few eg. the dude who has done the Mazda head has done so for his own enjoyment not to brake any records or please the stereotype wooly kind.

Many would agree we have no qualms with people using them - they have their purpose a great piece Nissan engineering, but to say blatantly thats "the motor" for your datsun needs heavy shearing.

There are more period/retro/pollution free setups available and this is not one of them. SR modern rice in a period GX is not as fun as a worked A or an L16 or L18 with KA24DE head which is now easy with all the info and parts available online as the KA has a massive following. The L series mains Dwarf SR and even KA mains. You often see SR engines with bad mains and main crank journals while that is rarely the case with L and A series.

Fit a sr20vet to your GX sort out the suspension, diff, brakes and other bits then show us if its the best engine for our datsuns I will be the first to say you are right and I was wrong. However if thats what makes you happy then you can never be wrong.

OK D so you did not like it but i suppose there are others that did or just the ideas.Nobody is having a go at the chap with the M/head on the A series block but it will remain in the ''other'' catergory [Actually i like it myself]Just a reminder ALMOST nobody can do the whole job on their own,as you can see there is about 3 chaps that have worked on different areas of the motor. As for the SR part well yes i think e/body on site is aware what has been done eg.racetech,silver coupe etc etc but this made for some interesting reading,if not for you then for myself and i suppose a few others.I did not say anybody has to use it or like it so feel free to say i dont want crap or same ol' same ol' in my 1200.This was just a thought for those looking in the SR directionso if you like it great if you don't well too bad sorry it's not your style.MY feeling --- I like reading all projects & learn from it and if i can't do it myself i ask for help learn from it and the next time i will know how to do it --rather be dumb for ten sec's and ask than dumb your whole life and not ask.Anyway it was the SR15 that caught my attention and i thought it was worth sharing AND i like their ideas ''working backwards''Now dude you should really go for anger management or take a calming tab.I am sure that chap with the mazda/A series will give you the info [maybe free]He seems quite a cool dude. Lagsie and Nissie, I actually love the SRVE variety not the SR20DE/T but if you put a SRDET in a 1600 four door no harm done heaps of those things around unlike a 510 coupe. Yet to say its the VE is only engine for your datsuns is a big arrogant call no hate there but when you label a Mazda head effort of Rob I see that as disrespectful cause at least he bothered to share real work. Rob had his reasons and should also be made to feel like he belongs without comments like that. Its good to see variety and different approaches to rides and over the years we missed a chance on someone sharing info on the E series head on the A series block due to labeling and opinions that drove the owner away for good.

if you love to see a GX with the SRVET go for it Nismo1 its your dream thats your thing but not many traditionalist GX owners would agree.
