A14 twins or efi?

I've ditched the ca18 set up and just bought an a14 with mild cam/head work, had a single weber. I'm looking at twin webbers of should I go an efi set up? How much would it cost to do a basic efi set up? I will be driving it daily once the project is on the road so I want something that's going to serve the purpose but at the same time have a little grunt... 'Not needing a 12 second car' can I get the webbers tuned to run everyday with limited issues? Trying to keep the cost down as much as possible...

by your comments you would be wanting the GX style twin SU setup

twin webers are a pain in the arse for needing constant tuning/maintenance (but perhaps worth the effort for a race car, that said i went back to SUs on my rally car)

EFI is never cheap

Thanks man, I'll have to keep my eyes open for su's. Would be hard to come by? And do I then need the oval ported head? Can I get a manifold and use 180b sss su's?

yeah, the factory SU manifold only suited oval port, 180bSSS su's would not easily adapt (linkages between carbys and manifold do not suit)

does your A14 have a round port head? most had oval port

I'll have to take off the exhaust manifold to have a look, I thought it was a rarity... I'll check, if I have oval them I just get the factory set up from the gx. Does anyone do aftermarket if I can't get my hands on them? Thanks again

I found this to be the case also until I stopped using poor quality linkage gear. The amount of play and slop that you get in some of the new units is a real worry.

Once I had good linkages I found them to be fine. I would check the balance every month or so and would rarely need to rectify them. Tricky part is getting the linkages to stay in adjustment.

Buy the time you buy some SU's and manifold and air cleaner you would have about the same dollars for a set of webers.

Unfortunately keeping costs to a minimum is a very difficult thing when NA induction and market inexperience are involved. What is your budget approximately?

I'm looking at spending around 500 give or take a bit for some kind of set up. If I need to keep the downdraught then I guess that will do for now. Would it be easier to run (keep tuned) a single sidedraught 45? I want to drive it locally too and from work each day so want it running well.

The single Weber will make just as much power as the twin SUs., the twins run smoother

Ok thanks. I hear that the e15 is a remake of an a series motor, can the injection / turbo set up be used?

The turbo itself can. The manifolds are completely different, as the e-series has a cross flow head. I guess the electrics and computer might be of some use.

Are you just after more power? Why did you remove the CA?
