Hello

Sometime ago i was into a junkyard and the owner told me that he know of a A series engine with volumetric compressor. He said that the engine was imported from south africa (70's to 80's). Anyone knows anything about this?

These are not the correct definitions I think, but I will try to explain it:

In a turbo compressor you have two turbines conected between them by a shaft. When the exhaust gases pass by one of the turbine they move it and then the other turbine moves and forces the air into the engine.

A volumetric compressor is mechanicaly driven (by some puley conected to the crankshaft) and it compresses the air into the engine by taking some mechanical power from the engine. In the USA they are called SUPERCHARGERS and the principal type used is the Roots (with two Lobes). In the Europe VW introduced the G compressor some years, but it is not used today due to some wearing problems.

Have you had a look in the photo section?
main : mechanical : engine : photo 11
Could be a good place to start.

Exhaust in a dato could be a bit tight, the morris has a bit more room around the strut towers.

heya ricardo,how are you.the only supercharged nissan engine i can remember is the ma10 from the nissan march,which,i think,was supercharged & turbocharged.this was a twincam 16 valve 4 cylinder in a very small car.but then you're talking south africa,so i can't say.

Would it be possible to get a late model Nissan Micra, fit the 1.8 litre motor from a Tiida & then turbocharged it? Your answer must include parts numbers for the conversion. You have 12 months. Commence.

I am doing fine, I hope that you are great too.
I think that it was a earlyer Datsun (previously to the Micra-March). However it could be only junkyard men talk. Can be just a mith. He talked about exclusive south africa engines.
