HI e/body i'm in a bit of a flat spot -- been infected by 1200 club members.I've been looking at another datsun but not sure cos there is quite a bit of work and like a lot of you i hav e not finished the first datsun. It's another 1200 deluxe L/blue same as my one but little rough. rust p/side floor and the two strips under floor and paint work is not to good[see photo if u like]Battery looks like truck battery.door panels need clean up and replacement panels in front[fenders]dont be fooled by the photo's the spray job has quite a few runs.odd rims etc etc.Positive: it's running, new grille, new front fenders, tappet cover that most of you are looking for and old Type R seats [worn] but can be recovered.NOW the plan--- dont want the engine, gearbox and diff but i'll take the t/cover and shine it up and drop it on my motor.I really really want a datto with a Busa motor cos i dig the sound, gearchange, revs and and and.ALready eyeing a motor in the UK and my sons there so should help .those that want to PICS -- gumtree s/africa datsun pg3 light blue with cl number plate. Just managed to get around the missus first question being ''when u gonna finish the other one''OOH forgot price about 750 aus dollars approx 8k

Looks great! I'd buy it. You can always find the correct grille and remove the plastic one.

well ddgonzal i did the very next day.The car looks ok in the photo but it's a real sloppy job and there might be a surprise or two. I am not sure if i should strip and paint or have it done. Been looking at other motoring sites for info on the sandblasters here in cape town and some[classic car builders] say no and some say yes.Motor is ok just noisy tappets[clatter]gearbox ok but very little brakes.Anyway not using engine gearbox and diff prob only tappet cover as i said.I think it will be alfa romeo diff or m75 lsd then reverse box in the middle and busa motor in front with a drive shaft adpt.DDGONZAL i have seen photos of these adaptors that fit in front but never seen how they fit.Do they have a washer[spacer] in between so it does not rub against casing or does the adaptor lock with screw or pin? Question no2 --what is the best diff ratio. -- been looking at 4.1 :3.9 and so on .NOW the PLAN and remember i cannot get the stuff in UK,USA or AUS because of e/rate.Flip rear blades, new rubbers bolts and nuts [poly bushes] maybe change shock mounts.alfa diff.I will have to look at front struts[seller said they were 120y]Re-do front susp [creaky up front] then paint and rust etc. The motor will prob come from the UK cos i got some bucks there --thats if my son has'nt spent it on that bloody audi quattro his got.Well thats more or less.I left out a lot[eg baffled sump] but i'll take one area at a time.[front sus, rear sus, body, engine, shafts etc]

The best ratio depends on usage.

* Do you want to run the quickest 1/4 mile drag race? Pick the lowest gear that will give you the most acceleration without overrevving the engine at the end of 1320 feet. If your tires are overcome by the torque, work on the suspension rather than lowering the ratio.

* Or the fastest road race course? Start with the lowest gear that still allows the fastest top speed at the fast parts of the track. A lot of tweaking will be needed to find the fastest ratio.

* Or for general street driving? I used 4.11 gears on my 1200 and loved them. I could still do 120 kph, but acceleration was much better than the 3.90 gears.

* Or do you want maximum fuel economy? Sell the busa and buy a Kia.

Gas2: While there are no plans to bring the Kia GT4 Stinger to production ... It could also deliver fantastic fuel economy, the kind of fuel economy not expected from sports cars of this caliber.

Whenever the discussion on Datsun1200.com turns to the "best diff ratio" someone will always recommend a low ratio (e.g. 3.45). Yes, it will have the best highway fuel economy, lowest noise, and lowest engine wear. But also the slowest acceleration and worst in-traffic fuel economy. So the "best ratio" depends on your goals.

The missus doesnt know the datto infection is worldwide and worse than Ebola
Also datsuns you can never finish them, they always evolve into what you want
as time goes by so "You can never finish a Datsun - except on the Finish line"
