i just bought a 1200 ute with a stock motor, but it does have a modified 5 speed box in it.
i want to know if there is any type of engine (turbo or non turbo) that will fit straight in without modifying the engine mounts?
i would like a little more power.
Thanks

if its got the a-12 in it you can slot in an a-14 or a-15 for a bit more torque but less revs, it requires a plate to modify mount position but this just bolts on not welded or anything see other thread about a-14/15, ill be putting some info there tommorow with a diagram too

what year is your ute? if its after 80 you dont need this plate, motor will go straight in

okay,if you're in sydney (or close) that a14 i saw at pick & payless at blacktown was still there as of last monday.it's in a green sunny wagon & has a 4 speed still attached when i saw it.don't know a price, but this will drop straight into your ute.so i hope you're in nsw at least.oh yes,by the way, where are you?

yeah best place to get a-14 is sunnys and best place to get a-15 is vanettes (some have a-12 some a-15)

basically a-14 is better for racing cause you get a balance of torque and high revving where a-15 is better for street cause you get that low down power but the motor wont rev out like the others

i know where there a-14 and a-15 in melb, you should put in your profile where you are to help us help you!

popped back into the pick & payless at blacktown again today,(just passing, saw the light on),& they have 2 a15's in vanettes as well as the a14,so you have a choice.there's also still the 1200 coupe & a 1000 wagon as well, plus plenty of stanzas & 200b's to get the brakes off of,& a scorched 1200 ute.don't know about melbourne, though.the address for anyone interested is tattersall rd,blacktown,on the corner, next to the sims metal yard.

Oh yeah if you have a 1980 model 1200 then you wont need to put the adapter plates in to fit an A14/15 because these already had the newer engines.

Mate that 1000 wagons not much good anymore! Didn't you see all they do is pile all the other sh@t in it now!

The 1000 has been there for ages I got a good tail light lamp off it! ( Suprisingly it was the side that I needed as one of mine had a few minor imperfections)
I can't belive how long they keep sh@t there for even if it has nothing on it!
I got the lens over 1 1/2 yrs ago now!
I keep telling Mick there to try and get some different ones, but I supose it is what is around at the time!
