I'm thinking of getting new inner and outer tie rods, and ball joints, for my 1984 Ute. But I can't work out if they differ over the years of production. Does anyone know if they remained the same, 1971-1985?
Help is appreciated.

Balljoints changed:
* H10 type 1970-1975
* H74 type 1975-1994

Tie rods are same.

Don't forget to inspect the Idler Arm. If it moves side to side, the bushings are only $10.

Thanks DD. Another thing, i'm about to respray the engine bay, and I was wondering if it's possible to unbolt the steering column/gearbox to move it out of the way, without actually removing it.

Sure, no problem. Loosen the column under the dash, remove the firewall gasket, and it will move over.
