I've been listening to my newly acquired CD of that New Zealand band The Datsuns for the last week or two. I have to say that for the most part IT ROCKS! The only song I feel is much weaker that the others is track two, "MF From Hell." Apart from that track, if you like the band Deep Purple, lots of dirty, raspy Hammond organ work and guitars, then you'll probably like The Datsuns.
There, that's my critique of them. Buy it or not, as you see fit.

I've loaned the disc to tensandtwenties so he can give it a listen. We decided that some of it sounds like early Sammy Hagar, other bits sound kind of "Punk" others sound like "low fidelity, middle seventies, hard rock." For the most part, I'd classify it as "hard rock." Perhaps T&T will give us his opinion after listening to it.

Ah, "Smoke on the Water." I think everyone who ever picked up a gitfiddle has hit those twelve notes! Duhnt duhnt duuhh, duhnt duhnt da duuhh, duhnt duhnt duuhh, duhnt duuhhh!
The Datsuns don't sound like that. Not to me at least, more like DP's B-side stuff.
And yes, I am old.

Speaking of us old guys, we actually remember that vinyl records had two sides. A hit "single" was put on side A, and some (usually unpopular) song was on side B. Further telling how old I am, I don't even know if CD singles generally come with one song or two.

I don't know about that, that line is "nobody's gonna take my car, and gonna break the speed of sound." We all know A-12 powered 1200s are capable of Mach 1.1 or so!

By the way 1200ute8u1, DP is Deep Purple. I was just too lazy to type the whole thing again.
