over easter im heading up to the big rock, pretty much gotta go past adelaide to get there

anyway morale of the story is

i may be taking the new datto and i want the lowest ratio i can get

i have a h190 diff with 4.1, can i get a 3.9 or even lower than that maybe? i want top speed with low revs to save on juice

might have to put the 5-speed in i think

Yeah, I wanna know where to get a lower ratio for my ute too.

What comes standard in the utes? Is it 4.1?

And I think its spelled Uluru...maybe

I don't mean to split hairs here (John, no bald jokes) but what you really want are HIGHER gears. Smaller numbers are higher gears, bigger numbers are lower gears.
To go faster with the same revs needs a higher gear.
To go slower with the same revs needs a lower gear.

Sedan or Coupe has the 3.9

Wagon, and ute have 4.11

I think.

I think you can also use the diff centres out of 120Y's too. Could be cheaper and newer version...

The 5-speed is the way to go. They generally have a less-torquey first gear (less breakage), but fourth (direct) is unchanged, and 5th (overdrive) makes for easy highway cruising.

More on the term "higher gears": this is ambiguous, it can mean either way. Better to say "lower numerically" which is like "a 3.7 is lower numerically than a 3.9 gearset, but it gives you a higher gear".

Lobster is correct about the sedan/coupe/wagon diffs.

Bluebird (910) S2 uses a 3.9 Ute diff centre..also the wagon/auto version of the same model Bluebird (910) has a 3.7 centre.

I'd 100% recommend 5 speed and 3.7 diff (If you can find one).

I have managed 200+kmh with 0.89 (5th) and a 3.9 bluebird diff.

200+ kph shiza that would have been scary does the speedo even go that far my dad said he got to 170 in his cruiser and he was pakin crap i probally would have been pakin death

well im leaving in the morning,

as others have said, dont talk about anything interesting while im gone!

not taking the datto, my SOFT mates pulled out so im jumping in the back of my brothers mitsubishi starion (hope it can make the distance), bout 5000km round trip, ye old starion blows oil out the dipstick when the turbo kicks in, not very reassuring!

hey 1200rc, how was the trip? Did you walk to the top of the rock? 5000km is a long drive for anyone I reckon (even a Texan might admit it).
