The bloke who makes the ca18 conversion kits has stopped returning my calls and is being a wanker. I have payed for a clutch kit to use the stock cable, he has not sent it.

He talks of using the cable instead of the hydraulic setup. I was wondering if anyone else has done this? If not, what is the easiest/best hydraulic mod for my car.

Craig of MadDat in Adelaide makes a clutch conversion kit apparently. Who's your conversion dude?

I used a Toyota based AE86/TA18 clutch master. It works well with the stock CA18 gearbox slave cylinder. My mods required changes to the pedal linkage and the pedal box. I used the AE86 one, because I wanted lots of plenum clearance. I used to use a 180B one, and my engine used to hit on it, when it was jumping around especially over large bumps. The short of it, is that I don't know of an easy conversion. But it has to exist.
It's a requirements trade off: short piston length inside the car to suit the pedalbox, and not having the body of the master cylinder hit on the plenum.

The bloke who sold me the kit is Paul Traynor. He had a green 1200ute ca18det plates inj18l, but he sold that.

I had a play with just the stock clutch cable and it has to go a long way but it could work. The cable is what I want to do as the engine is already in and I dont wanna tear it out just to get a master cylinder in. Will see how I go,

I am usuing a 180b master cyl and it does come very close to the plenum. I shifted the engine foward about 20mm and that fixed the problem there is about 25mm clearence now between the master cyl and the plenum.
I also shifted the clutch master cyl over rite up to the brake master cyl. which made the clutch pedal line up perfectly
So far I havent had a problem with it.
But Yes it is a bastard to set up, many hours spent on my head under the dash
