I'm toying with the idea of Z32 300ZX brakes for the coupe.

Reason being my rear calipers are very bulky and heavy, off early Silvia H165, look very similar to 280ZX? The problem is that with the car lowered 2" there is inadequate clearance between caliper and chassis rail. Dimlight you have this setup don't you? How do you get on? With the wider diff I used to run it was no prob but with the roadstar diff the calipers sit in closer and don't allow enough suspension movement. Originally I decided to rotate the caliper mount bracket on the axle housing by drilling new holes but it will be very tight for space, especially as I want to take out the lowering blocks and get the spring eyes reversed. A mate has a smashed up 300ZX and I had a quick squiz and measure up of the calipers and obviously they'll need a new bracket to mount them to the existing mount but they are much smaller, probably a lot lighter and definitely a lot newer. I'd have to run a hydraulic handbrake but I can't see that being a drama- I've wanted to do it anyway. Then I thought, might as well look at the fronts too. They've gotta be miles better than the Princess 4pots which I have now, don't you think? Same story, they'll need a bracket made up to fit them but that's not the end of the world. I'm hoping like hell I can get them to fit inside 13" wheels but at worst I've seen them in 14s.
So, (a) do you guys think it's worth giving it a crack (b) do you think it's overkill for a 700kg car (c) do you think it's more of a step back than forwards if I have to move up to 14" wheels (bearing in mind this is a club car not a road car) and (c) what do you think is a fair price to pay? (in NZ)

The early S110 rear discs and calipers I got were small and very light and fit under 13's. The discs were same as R31 skyline and the calipers had postage stamp pads in small light calipers. This came from an import S110 SX? with Z20E I got from an import in Christchurch a few years back.
I think going up to 14's would be a step back as good circuit rubber is not as easy to get and you would be increasing unsprung mass. My two bobs worth.

Um, er, ahh.

Well, the Chickenhawk has the whole rear axle out of an S-11(?) 200SX (1980, Z-20E engine). I think it is an H165, but I'm not 100% sure. I have had no problems with clearance. The axle was significantly wider than stock, and even the B-210 axle that came out.
Sorry to be of no help, unless I was and don't know it. Then, Woo-Hoo!

What is an S110 SX? Is it an early 200SX/Silvia? Not S11? Are the calipers pressed steel or cast alloy? Mine are steel. I don't want to go to 14s for the same reasons, also a slight increase in COG. I think the rears will fit in the 13s I was more worried about the front 4 pots, they're quite big and come off a car with 16" wheels. Of course I'll use a smaller dia. disk as long as the pad area matches up OK.

Dimlight I used to have the wider diff too, no clearance problems until I swapped the disks onto the narrower B120 ute housing. Maybe I sould just change back!

The S110 SX is an early silvia luxury???? model. The calipers are steel but small and light.
If you are using 4 pots up front the front, rear bias ratio may be a problem without a balance bar setup.
The S110 piston sizes are small as is the pad area.

I think my rears are only doing 10% of my braking any way. I have Nismo Dunlop MK63 calipers and 253 mm discs on the front with balance bar (intermitently).

I was using R31 skyline discs on the rear but went back to air scoop fed ventilated drums (2" holes cut in the mounting face) when I put the car back on the road as a daily parts pick up mobile.

Oh yeah! I do remember being concerned with the calipers hitting the springs. They sit at an angle where they would if the axle wasn't so wide. I looked at that for quite some time before I welded spring the perches on to the axle. Once I realized they, the springs, were going to be quite a bit farther in on the tubes, I forgot all about it.

What is an S110 SX?

SX was the american name. S110 is the Nissan model code for the 1980-1983 Sylvia a.k.a. 200SX in the US.

The S10 Sylvia was made from 1976-1979

After the S110 came the S12.

This is from the Nissan Global model changes document.

The discs and calipers came on an E-PS110 Z20E powered with FS5w71B & HB 38
rear axle. It had an SX badge on the rear hatch.
I can send a pic of the model ID plate if you want.

Sounds like a good idea to me, the Z32 calipers (rear) are simple and compact units. I think it would be very hard fitting the fronts under a 14" rim though , and still having a good disc contact area, and the width of the 300zx disc is quite large also.
