Hey Guys....

Was talking to a guy who starting to do a lot of Carbon Fibre work and is interested in getting into the Datsun scene, wants to know how many people would be interested in a complete carbon fibre dash for a 1200, price is yet to be confirmed but will be around $400 to $500 bolt in. provisions will be for original gauges or blank for installment of aftermarket gauges etc..... please note that i am not taking orders but testing the water to see if there would be some interest in the product ??

Cheers
Peddler

Marty, I thought that you were on a budget?
Does that price include the car?

Are you talking about the complete dashboard or just the dash face?
If it is the complete dash you cannot use it for IPRA.
If it is like Steve's from Q'land you can use it.

it is the complete dash.... i thought that if it is of the same construction and detail that there wouldnt be a problem. I know that you have a lot more knowledge in this area Bozzy, can we confirm that this is the case so that i can put a stop to the process ??

The original is soft and the carbon fiber one is hard and there lies the problem

John's right. CAMS group 3J regs:

13.3 Instruments: Instruments are free, dash must remain. Any holes in the dash resulting from the removal of instruments must be neatly closed by the addition of a closing panel... etc

I have just spoken to Peter Lawrence of CAMS and the President of NSW IPRA Nick Dunkley whom both confirm that as long as the original metal frame work is in tact and orignal instrument panel is not changed, there is no problem simply because there is no physical changes nor is there anything to benefit the performace of the vehicle

I didnt post this to cause a sh*t fights guys, i thought that it was within the rules also hence i thought it was worth a question, hey if you dont ask you dont get!!!

Cheers
