Hey, I'd like to hear what are everyone's favorite or latest races in your Datsuns. I love reading kill stories, especially about Datsuns.

My latest race was over a month ago :( right before I dropped off my 1200 to be delivered to Japan. I was driving on the highway through Dallas, TX, and the type of guy I hate cruised by going about 75mph in a 65 speed limit. Young guy, probably same age as me, low to mid 20's, dressed in Abercrombie and Fitch, and driving a brand new "faddish" Audi TT. This guy doesn't know anything about cars otherwise he'd own something else Well, I tailed him for a little while, he was weaving in and out of traffic, so I stuck with him. There was also an Eagle Talon playing too. When traffic opened up all three of us hit it. I was under my power band a little bit, so it was about even he had a jump on me....revs got above 5k, then started catching the Talon....ssssee ya Talon...now coming onto the TT....slowly....run out of gear in 4th, shift and ride 5th out pretty hard and start closing in, he looked like he was maxed out. Just about then there's a huge dip in the road that almost caused all the cars to lose it, and traffic is coming up too, so I started slowing down. The speedo was back around to "0" and revs were at ~6,000 in 5th gear.....not bad. I haven't taken it up that high in a while, but it felt good to get the adrenalin going. The guys in the Talon were checking out my car afterwards...the idiot in the Audi kept bobbing and weaving. I caught up to him 10 minutes later and I was just going the speed limit, while this dummy was rushing in/out of lanes and speeding whenever he could. I hate guys like that, it was fun though, and now I know my humble little 1200 can take a new $30K+ sports car....that's the best.

Umm i smell bullshit dude. Unless you got 200hp or so in your car i dont beleive it...

Not possible from a stock engine.

Of course it's not a stock engine! But I do still get 30mpg's. Plus it's not like Audi TT's are super cars either. From repeated tests and sea level (altitude) corrections, Car and Driver claims the Audi does 15 second quarter miles, and has a top speed of 130mph, the average kid could never pull off times like that....this is not that hard to achieve in a 1200...of course owning a 84 Mazda 626 wouldn't tell one that

A 1900lb Datsun with 200 hp at the crank would be capable of 13.00 in the quarter...assuming you could get traction. You'd be waxing Corvettes, Mustangs, and Camaro's with that much power, let alone a crappy Audi TT. I've probably only got 100-120 hp. You be the judge of the stank:

A15 rebuilt, balanced, .020" over
Delta Cams D9 grind .229 dur@.050" .414" lift
Oval port head, Nismo Si valves, dual valve springs, fully ported/polished
Dual 40mm Dellorto's, Holley electric fuel pump/regulator
Malvern chrome-moly pushrods
Nismo Competition Header 2.25 inch exhaust
Electronic Ignition, MSD 6AL, Accel 8.8 Race Wires, Accel Super Coil
Tilton 7lb alloy flywheel w/Nismo clutch
Dogleg 5 speed, H150 3.90 rearend

If you still think it's bull stuff, bring it....with your Twin side draught webers custom manifold, Performance street cam, Ported head, and 2 1/2" Catback Exhaust, I have no problems schooling a fellow member.

Okay, here's my scariest race ever...

People always used to call me a pussy because I would refuse to race my car up the main street, where all the boy racers line each other up.

Anyway the one race I did have up the street was against a mate in his 13B turbo Gemini. We both nailed it off a set of lights and within a block and a half we were in third with me sideways next to him still trying to get traction. He hit rev-limiter in third at about 150-160 and shot massive flame right in front of my face and I grabbed 4th and powered on to a win.

It was at about 180 that I stepped on the brakes, real hard. I was still hard on the brakes when I hit the railway crossing, got airborne and changed lanes in the air.

DON'T RACE IN BUILT-UP AREAS KIDDIES!!!!!

I have quite a few stories. My best memory was 3 years ago at the speed weekend in Bathurst .
The supersprint starts at the dip down conrod and finishes at the finish line. This would have to be my favourite race as its a drag race of the start 2 cars at a time.
This time I was againts a nice bright red new 300KW GTS comonwhore. The HSV boys where there in numbers polishing this and that. Anyway the little beat up datto (was red then with faded paint) lined up againt this mega dollar beast. I boost it loading it up in 2nd gear 5000rpm then when the flag drops whamo drops the clutch perfect launch It looks like the GTS has been left in my dust and smoke. The look on the guys face when he pulls up after we are done was priceless. I must admit was great for my ego when most of the hsv guys came down to look under the hood :) Just goes to show its dosnt need to be shiny & expensive to mix it with the big guns.
There was also the time I beat a R32 GTR with all the goods at the same event the year after but thats another story.
Andrew

i got a tail wind on the freeway on ramp and overtook a p plater girl in a mitsubishi mirage.
Yes, i think she was putting make up on too.

seriously, i almost took a suzki swift gti with my old a12a and dual su's combo, extractors and a 2inch exhaust. lost by 1/4 of a bonnet length but i was impressed.
