I dont know too much about the datsun pickups. What model would a 1978 be? I'd like to know what size motor they have and what they are worht. I found one in town for $500 but I haven't stopped to check it out yet.By the way I'm back to driving my 1200 again. Was driving a 1993 ford thunderbird SC but it wasn't the datsun. It wasn't any fun to drive and didn't have any character, so my dad took her off my hands. But any help with the pickup information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If it looks the same style as mine (see avitar on the left) or in my members photo album, then its what is known as a B120. They made these in Australia up until the end of 1985.

If its standard it should have a 1200 motor same as other Datsun 1200's. It will have a slightly different (better) diff. Being a 78 model it should also have a disc brake front end (correct me if I'm wrong other ute owners).

Not sure on prices in your country, but if it were $500 here it would be a B A R G A I N

Hope this helps

the model is 620, it came with an L20B engine, and if it's a King Cab, it should also have a 5 speed.

Yes, the 620 is the only Datsun truck we got in the USA during those years. It's a real body-on-frame truck.

The USA never got B120s (Datsun 1200 car-based unibody truck).

1993 Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe wasn't any fun to drive? Hmmm ... maybe you just aren't a Ford Man. That's a supercharged rear-wheel-drive car. But then again I've never driven one either.

It's no matter were you live in the USA or here in OZ. You can not get away from Holden(GMC) v Ford.
And for the record, I'd like a Holden, than a Ford!

The reason the super coupe wasn't any fun to drive was mainly because of the automatic transmission and the fact that I think something is screwed up with the computer and it would bog out when you floored it which made it much slower then it should have been. My dad doesn't think there's anything wrong with it and says I have too much of a lead foot but oh well I'm happier with my Datsun and he likes the T-Bird so we both won. My the way I'm a girl and Ford's really are my favorite domestic brand but the T-bird just wasn't my type of car. The Datsun pickup isn't a king cab so I'm guessing it would be a 4-speed then? Thanks for the help though.

Those were cool trucks. Try to find a king cab though. Back in High School a gal had one done all up. Looked great. Good classic lines. Then she had it dropped to the pavement. DAMN that was a great truck!

Ah then, congrats on getting a Datsun. I've got the old trusty '88 Mustang 5.0 convertible and I'm torn each day between driving that and my Datsun 1200. But I know in the end I'll sell the Ford and keep the Datsun.

The King Cab is an "extra cab" pickup, with extra room behind the seats. One of the first if not the first, and certainly the most successful extra cab design sold in the US. Everyone was talking about the King Cab back then.

I think the regular Datsun pickup looks slightly better than the King, but I guess it's a matter of individual choice.
