i picked up the Holden/Nissan RB30 with a race ported head real cheap and so far i've cut out the firewall and i'm sussing out the reinforceing on the chassy . I'm picking up the gearbox for it in a couple of weeks , I've gone an auto for starters couse i'm not sure on how toey she'll be. Any ideas you guys might have for me would be great. Strange everyone i've spocken to seem to give me a funny laugh when i tell them what i'm doing. Not sure where i'll put the radiator either , the back two cylanders are under the dash as is

I'd be more worried about where the parachute is going than the radiator

Hey DD, Holden used a nissan engine for the Holden VL commodore as Ford had fuel injection and holden didn't so Holden said we can't let this happen so they asked nissan for a fuel injected motor so they did the RB30DE. Then after Holden researched on fuel injection and started making their own.
Well thats my understanding of the saga

Oh, they just did something like that recently. GM needed a race engine that could win, so about a month ago they started using engines from Ford's Cosworth division.

Yep thats pretty close...Holden had injected the black 2002 Holden 6 but was considered long in the tooth. Holden intended to use the Buick sourced V6 but GM weren't in a position to supply at that time. Nissan was approached and built the RB30 which as far as I know was unique to the Holdens. The Holden 308 was planned to be dropped so the RB30 turbo was produced as a performance alternative and was used to great effect as a police pursuit car in Aussie and NZ and has become a legend. We now also know that Holden had a rethink about dropping the 308 and continued it for many more years before replacing it with the Chev Gen 3.

stock cas have the radiator in the boot, but they get airflow from having no windows, if ya setup some ferari style scoops in the side..

hehe

DD, the RB30 came out in the VL series Commodore and they also has a single turbo variant. The model range was from 1986-1988 and was a fill in for the soon to be buick. I was speaking to a rep at Holden Engine Company and he mentioned that the driveline for an Exec Commodore was around $7000 at the time (non-turbo)...pretty expensive considering a new Commodore was $20000!! They also came out in the locally made Nissan Skyling HR31 model.
The Turbo Commodores were quick at the time...I had a mate riding a Suzuki Katana and was chased by 2 VL turbo police cars and he had an off at 100mph...nearly broke every bone in his body...but the VL's were allegedly right on his tail. Now my mate wasnt that great a rider either but they were good cars.
