Nissan CR engine is an all-alloy 16-valve engine -- the modern A-series, with same displacements and general engine dimensions. CR14DE is the most powerful.
Overview
CR10DE 1.0 liter CR12DE 1.2 liter CR14DE 1.4 liter with VVL, 98 hp
CR14DE is found in the 2002-2008 Nissan Z11 (2nd gen Nissan Cube) and in the 2003-2010 K12 (Nissan Micra/March).
You can buy a CR14DE for as little as $550 as a low KM motor from almost any Jap wrecker
24% more power than a stock A14
60kg lighter than A14
Appears to have same transmission bell pattern as E-series.
Potential for 300 hp with turbocharging
Challenges
* Starter mounting * Sump fitting
The block has a huge crank girdle, which is great for strength, but mean it won't fit a standard crossmember. Solution: build a new crossmember that dips down.
The A-series gearbox starter location is right where a big CR engine boss is.
Revhead Mockup
Discussion: Is a CR14DE a viable conversion? Let's find out.
Revhead did some work on fitting it to a Datsun 1000.
Summary: Yes. The CR14DE is a viable conversion. There are some things that will need sorting out ... need sump modifications
61 - Sits a bit close to the firewall for the water outlet at the rear.
Alloy sump is huge to encompass the huge crank girdle
Fit perfect with the sump pan removed.
