Datsun 1200s had optional AM and AM/FM radios. Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) included Clarion, Hitachi, and Ferris.

  • Monoraul AM, single speaker
  • Mono AM/FM, with single speaker
  • Stereo AM/FM, with dual speakers

Speakers

If your 1200 came with a factory radio, the factory speaker and grille mounted on the kick panel under the dash. The stereo option came with two of these, one for each side.

Aftermarket Stereos

Most modern stereos are DIN-mounted, requiring you to use an alternate mounting location, or cut the metal dash to fit it. A few companies still offer a two-shaft CD-receiver in a modern design.
