The 1200 hood (bonnet) has sheet-metal reinforcement bracing on underside.
Do not weld these braces. It was glued on by the factory. Use a modern body seam sealer to repair it.
Get a tube of body seam caulking and re-glue the hood braces back into place. Squirt the body seam sealer into the correct ares and then close the hood so it dris with the hood in place, not a little crooked or tilted.
I took the hood off, turn it over, put a little weight (bout 10lbs.) on the braces. Then ran a bead of silicone coulk along the braces, both sides. Let it set over night and it's held for years.
