From 'CAR and DRIVER' magazine 1970 October page 75 ("FOR YOUR INFORMATION" column)
Datsun is importing a new line of 1.2-liter small cars as a hodge against the larger small cars from domestic automakers. Smaller and less expensive than the 510 series, the Datsun 1200 is powered by a 4-cylinder overhead valve engine producing 69 hp @ 6000 rpm and 70 lbs-ft torque @ 3600 rpm. The 1200 series offers two body styles, a fastback coupe and a 2-door sedan — both seat four passengers and feature all-synchro 4-speed transmissions, front disc brakes, and fairly comprehensive instrumentation. Radial tires and tachometer are optional. The sedan is priced at $1716, the coupe at $1864.
