you can cut out the original tubs and put larger tubs in but it is purely for looks unless you either move the springs in line with the chassis rails (probably best described as mini-tub) -- or go all out and move the rails and springs
Mini tubs and tubbing developed as a result of the drag racing classes requiring that bodywork remained standard looking ... no flares allowed. Aerodynamic efficiency is also a factor in the super quick pro stock classes. On the other hand (where allowed) it is so easy to flare the guards get a wider diff and have the tyres sitting outside the car a couple of extra inches.
