j.h. hanes edition covering 1970-73 1200's.
i borrowed from a friend and scanned it then found a brand new unopened manual at a swap meet. bah. any members of datsun1200.com interested in a copy (its 20megabytes) contact me via the private message thing. no more trying to understand portugese manuals!
this one ive printed double sided (odd pages, then even pages) then had a friend at KwikKopy give it a metal spine for $5. cheap for a rare car manual really.
i tried to offer this file to datsun1200.com but i didnt get any reply by email - thus this post. |

well, as im waiting for funding, i've started working on sprucing it up a bit, my bro had some rust kill paint lying around and it ended up in my engine bay, ive also got the guards off and am swapping the flares onto some brand new gaurds ive had for a while
trying to remove the "rustic" look the car formely had
the engine bay was that stock datsun horrid mustard colour before this |

heres a few things ive done to try to increase the ignition power and general performance in my datsun.
- Jaycar high energy ignition kit ($60)
- Lectran pulsar ignition($50-60)
- new plugs/leads($30-50)
- aftermarket high performance coil (free!)
1st I put in the new leads. no obvious changes. then new coil. started a bit easier (it made the starter motor spin a LOT faster - dont know if its bad or not) then inserted better sparkplugs and built the jaycar ignition system (its easier than u'd think to build) then installed it in-between the radiator and the lights. I noticed a definite increase in the cars ability to start, run normally and on long drives - more responsive accelerator. then i found this little device which basically makes the spark a lot fatter. much more than the coil or the elec ignition has done. the car now literally can be started with a single whisk of the key in the ignition, while applying the gas a little (or a lot depending on how hot/cold it is). also with this little Lectran toy the car does what all the above did and more. definitely more power, less bad exhaust emmisions, more fuel efficiency (havnt had it long enough to prove that one but the box says it does). it fires more of the petrol mixture in the cylinders due to its now massive spark.
so overall its now a lot better than it was. :)since its a stock 1200 it was worth it to see a difference without new injection or nething else. go the big little car. |

| hooray i took the coupe for a spin on a track (public) at last. the 1200's have won lots of races here @ bathurst - many years ago. it is 3hrs west of sydney. a good cruize there and back. watch out for police on the track. take bells line of road home thru blue mountains and njoy driving your datsun |
