Quinn: you would be surprised what the Australian Cops use for thier cars.
Down here in Tas we have
Holdens: Comodore's sedan, wagons, utes , 4wd Rodeo's,
Fords Falcons,sedan wagon and utes
Nissans Patrols
Mitsubishi Tritons
Toyota Camry/Aurions
Subaru Foresters
etc etc.

I recokn it would be great to go for a fang in an FPV cop car.

Just a bit of info you may find interesting about the cops.

The reason they aren't using the Monaro as a high speed pursuit car is becasue the model is discontinued and hence the parts will be discontinued at some stage.

Also I noticed that that is the BF Typhoon and when I queried that the reason for that is that the cops resell their crap constantly to get the best resale price and in turn use the money for cop stuff.

BTW I don't like cops atm, losing my license becasue of one

That's interesting. Macquarie Bank actually own the police vehicles and the police department leases them from Macquarie at a cost to the taxpayer.
Yes they get traded in frequently, especially highway cars since they are clocking up k's all day long.
I doubt the police could make a profit on the sale of a leased vehicle.
A few years back, for 6 months i built police cars for a living. You would be suprised by what vehicles are out there and what beaters are actually unmarked cars for various departments like child protection etc.
Im happy to keep paying my taxes for such things. There are worse police forces out there in various other countries collecting donations.

Yeah, I must say I'm sick of all the cop beating. Like teaching and nursing it's an essential service that is underpaid.

I've found that in general the people that complain the loudest about these guys are the ones that don't have the balls to do their job.

in terms of making money out of police vehicles im not sure, but in other government departments they "make money" because they dont have to pay the original tax on the car. So say a car costs $30 000, they can get it for $20 000 without tax, use it for a couple of years and sell it for $22 000, so they are just losing tax money. Or at least that is how it was explained to me.

Is it normal for police cars to be lowered and have aftermarket wheels there?

its an FPV Falcon - factory hottie. that's its standard ride height and wheels. but its one of the more expensive Falcons you can buy...

sucks that you got done on your own property. Really, while you do have the right to ask them to leave your property if they don't have a warrant and have not been invited in by the resident or owner, that's only going to make matters worse as phunk said.

On the road or in public areas its a different story. they can search or inspect your car anywhere anytime.

it used to be you had to front up to Pineapple St Inspection Station and go over the pits to clear a defect. But last time I had one would have been well over 10years ago.

I think its kind of odd that you guys use fords in oz, the cops here (in nz) use holdens and seeing as they are ozy i thought you would surely use them. guess ford must have put up a better offer. Why is there a car AND a bike, its a bit excessive isn't it?

in the first part of this "Defected in Garage" topic

phunk had stated that they had been trying for a few days to get contact and finally a m/b cop made contact, and he had to call the H/w patrol to do the inspection that is why thee is a m/b cop there too so in no ways is it excessive

ok, the cop on the bike came because he had the call about my brother dragging so he was following it up, he then called department of transport to get them around but a car was already on it's way to the spit (surfers) so that's when the red cop car pulled up with the department of transport officer in the passenger seat.

It's a FPV model falcon, turbo charged 6. i asked the cops about it and they say it's stock standard.
