 Re: new bonnet
That`s real scary when the bonnet flips open, happened to me too but I was lucky it caught on the last catch and I could stop! Fitted some bonnet pins now although I was reluctant to make more holes in the car! Guess it is safer.

yeh the thou did it to me once. only damage was to the bonnet. I just slammed it back down and kept driving. I had broken yet another bonnet cable that day and it wasnt latching properly.

I just kept my gap to the dotted lines on my right then hung it up somebodys driveway... lucky nothing was parked in it!

 Re: new bonnet
I got this new bonnet obviously of Chinese origin(was R380) as a replacement. I was screwing around with the coil, and forgot to replace the bonnet pins when I went to wash my hands. It flew open at 50k's, and "moered" a nice ding in the roof, as well as breaking the windscreen. I drove straight to the window shop to have that replaced, so I didn't get a shot of it broken.

First two of damage, it also cut the body where the hinges go through. Second two I planned to put some bonnet vents in, to lower under bonnet temps, and thought I might as well cut these in there to see if it helps. Temps are down slightly, but where I did notice an improvement was on high speed, it feels more sable in front. Have decide that I'll rather lift the bonnet in the back on race days, as I don't like vents all to much, and this looks to backwards for me to live with...

I'll also leave the new bonnet black, as it looks sharp in my opinion... yes, yes I'll add a proper coat of black paint though...

Has anyone noticed how much that shape in the middle of the bonnet looks like the diamond shape on Superman's chest...

 Re: new bonnet
Thanks for posting the picture, a couple of months ago I was trying find such a pic.

This happened to me some years ago. Same thing:
* dent in bonnet
* dent on roof
* hinges ripped the cowl
I have never forget since then to double-check!

happened to me once too. smaller dent in roof but it stuffed up the bonnet and hinges.

Also it happened to me in heavy Sydney traffic after work. couldn't see #### out the front window and my side window was shut.

One of the top-5 scariest things to happen to me.

Also ripped the cowl, if you look at the 3rd pic, you can see the "rips" right below the two silver plates covering the vent holes. Rates as one of the top 5 for me as well. I only later realised that even leaning out the window to see where I was going, I barely missed some concrete poles on the lefthand side when pulling out of traffic...
