Re: New wheels on the turd. The main reason she is dubbed "the turd" is because she is brown, slow moving, and sometimes a pain in the a$$. She was really ugly when she had the cloth top, bumpers, and nasty trim. The 120y is "special" in it's design (the fat butt is just absurd). You never see them at the Datsun shows here in the states, so she'll be unique. No matter she ends up looking like in the end she will always be "The Turd".

Re: New wheels on the turd. Those wheels look great on the Turd, I dont think of the 120Y as an ugly duckling as such, just a bit whale bellied or slab sided, a GT stripe down the side might go some ways to curing this.

Re: New wheels on the turd. i personally like the 120coupes the best out of all the datsun's.they look ugly stock but when ya lower em and wack a nice set of dish rims on it and they look tough. bolt up A15 dont need no brackets or nothing etc(not that they are hard to make), they are also very strong cars and got a nice big boot to put things.

Re: New wheels on the turd. Because it's brown & sorta pointy at the ends?
I've always said that the 120Y coupe was the ugly duckling. In dead stock trim, it's not the outstanding car that the earlier versions are & I can be hard to see the potential. With good paint & the right set of wheels & tyres, they can be transformed into so much more & they can take their rightfull place in the sun alongside their older brothers.
Personally, I would give this car a more flattering name, rather than describe it as something unhygenic. For gods sake, even 'The Spud' would be better. [but not much better]
